PlayStation Network sales top entire revenue of Nintendo

Sony's PlayStation Network made more money during the last fiscal year than the entirety of Nintendo.

PlayStation Network sales top entire revenue of Nintendo

Twitter user ZhugeEX who blogs about the industry and sales data, tweeted the figures earlier today, after looking at the company's financial results.

At the end of the last fiscal year (closing on March 31 2016), PSN sales alone amounted to more than the entirety of Nintendo's revenue for the same period.

During FY2015/16, Sony sold 17.7 million PS4 consoles, bringing the install base up to 40 million. If you factor in subscriptions to PlayStation Plus, as well as general purchases on PSN, it's not hard to see how they've managed to rake in so much from the service.

Hopefully, Nintendo will have better luck with the launch of the NX next year, following what looks to be a fairly uneventful E3 from the company.

Sony's PS4 NEO is expected to drop later this year so no doubt they'll continue to enjoy an increase in sales, following the PS4's 11.8 per cent growth from last year.
