There was never a doubt Dark Souls 3 would achieve good concurrent player numbers on Steam on its launch day, even if the stats are not as impressive as other heavy hitters.
Dark Souls 3 beats non-Valve games at Steam's concurrent user numbers
Steam's concurrent user data, everyone's favourite metric for tracking how well their favourite games did on launch, is back in the spotlight again thanks to the release of Dark Souls 3.
From Software's latest went live all across the world overnight, and has already made a decent dent in the Steam's concurrent user stats. According to the available data, Dark Souls 3 has the most concurrent players of any non-Valve game.
This puts it at number three, straight behind the two juggernauts, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The number of players online at the same time peaked at 129,086, with 73,058 currently in-game.
It's a far cry from Fallout 4's 441,947 or the 301,246 players GTA 5 attracted on launch, but for a relatively niche title, it's not bad at all.
