While Fallout 4 is definitely fun regardless of platform, there's certainly room for improvement on consoles. Luckily, improvement is precisely what Bethesda offered in the first major Fallout 4 patch, which arrived overnight.

Eurogamer's Digital Foundry found that update 1.02 provides a much better frame rate in troublesome areas, notably the Corvega Assembly Plant. Where previously the frame rate would drops as low as 20fps in this dungeon, it now reportedly holds steady at the fixed 30fps standard.

Unfortunately you'll still see dips during explosions and firefights, but Digital Foundry noted better performance in others areas of the game world as well, so overall it's a reason for celebration.

Expect a more detailed report, and a similar analysis of the recently-released Xbox One patch, over the next few days.
