Battleborn open beta coming first to PS4 in 2016, three multiplayer modes detailed
It was announced during the PlayStation press conference at Paris Games Week today that the Battleborn open beta will launch first on PlayStation 4.
Along with the news, Gearbox also released a new trailer showing off three of the competitive multiplayer modes: Capture, Meltdown, and Incursion. It's above.
Here's the breakdown for each mode:
- Capture: Classic capture-and-control mode between two teams of heroes.
- Meltdown: Each team has to march waves of minions to their death into the chompers at the ends of lanes on the map. Players will score points for every minion who throws themselves into the incinerator and the team with the most scrap metal wins.
- Incursion: Teams of heroes must defend their base from waves of AI-controlled minions. Players will also be working together alongside their own minions to lead them to the opponent’s base and then destroy it.
Starting on Thursday, October 29 the first closed technical test will occur on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Players will be able to try out the competitive multiplayer mode Meltdown, a story mission called The Algorithm and 15 of the 25 playable characters.
The loot and gear system will be tested and players can pick these up via loot packs in the story mission or unlocked using the in-game credits earned through matches.
Finally, Gearbox also revealed another playable hero, ISIC, who is a "500-year-old murder machine" along with more details on Story Mode.
Battleborn is slated for a February 9 release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
