Stardock launches first ever DirectX 12 game
Ashes of the Singularity is the very first DirectX 12 game to make it to market, apparently.
Ashes of the Singularity arrived on Steam Early Access today. Developer Stardock says its the first game ever released with DirectX 12 support.
Described as the "most advanced RTS ever", Ashes of the Singularity boasts tens of thousands of units on huge maps, living up to the dream of simulated global conflict.
This sort of thing is likely to test your gaming PC, but Stardock says that Windows 10 and DirectX 12 have allowed it to optimise the Nitrous engine and deliver performance improvements. It should run smoothly even on pretty modest rigs, apparently. Neowin has some images showing off how DirectX 12 can improve matters.
There's a benchmark tool built in to see how your system stands up to the challenge. Full release is expected in 2016, after a few months of content and feature updates.
