Don't expect mod support for Dirt Rally any time soon
Modding tools aren't exactly off the table for Dirt Rally, but it doesn't appear mods can or will be supported at any point in the future.
According to Codemasters' community manager Lee Williams, the developer would love to be able to implement mod support, but there are all sorts of incensing issues to worry over.
"Truth is for us to implement it the way people are asking is difficult and sometimes not possible at all," said Williams on Reddit. "We couldn't allow people to mod in new cars because of licencing. Even liveries on cars officially supported causes licensing issues.
"There are somethings that could be done, but it seems that every possible way look at incorporating mod support we hit a legal reason why we can't."
Williams also said the team doesn't have a tool which would enable users to create custom tracks.
"It's not off the cards yet, but I really can't promise anything," he said.
The Steam Early Access title is available only on PC for the time being, as Codies wants continuous feedback from the community as development progresses.
The team wants console users “to be able to experience this game first hand,” but an Xbox One or PS4 version hasn’t been announced.
