Minecraft users will soon be able to change their user name

Minecraft has been around for enough years now that you might be regretting the username you picked back when it was in alpha.

An upcoming Minecraft release will include the ability to change your username, although there's no ETA as yet.

"We do not yet support changing or editing usernames, though this is planned for the future. We do not have a set release date for this feature," a Minecraft support page informed us.

"Username changes will not be available before Minecraft version 1.8. This does not mean that 1.8 is the release date for the username change feature.

"Changing your username will be free, and limited to a certain number of changes in a given time period."

There are a few more rules there worth checking out if you're hanging out to shuck your adolescent handle.

Word of the upcoming feature was first teased by Mojang's Kristoffer Jelbring via Twitter.

Thanks, PCGamer.
