Dreamfall Chapters: Book One out now, after eight years of waiting

The Longest Journey is finally drawing to a conclusion with the release of a new episode, eight years after the last.

Dreamfall Chapters is the latest entry in the series that began with 1999's The Longest Journey and continued with Dreamfall: The Longest Journey in 2006.

The first episode, Reborn, is now available on Steam for Linux, Mac and PC. The second episode is undated.

As this third game's title suggests it was originally conceived of as an episodic release, before being re-envisioned as a single release. However, developer Red Thread Games later decided to return to the episodic release format to minimise wait time. The cover price of $35 includes all five planned episodes.

Longest Journey creator Rangnar Tørnquist left Funcom and licensed the IP to produce the long-awaited conclusion to the adventure series. A Kickstarter raised over $1.5 million for the project, with further funding provided by the Norwegian Film Institute.
