Might & Magic Duel of Champions receiving largest and "most important update since launch"
Might & Magic Duel of Champions will receive its largest and "most important update since launch" with Heart of Nightmares, which includes bringing in six new heroes, 100 new cards, a new base set and new puzzles.
The expansion includes one new hero for each of the six factions and each will contain different powers requiring new strategies on the battleground.
“Our players are quick to adapt and learn the best way to defeat opponents with the cards in their deck, so we are continuing to give players new hero options to keep the game fresh. Each new hero requires players to learn their strengths and weaknesses, shifting their strategy in order to play or defeat them,” said Samuel Jobin, the game's producer.
The new base set will help rebalance the meta-game, making it easier for new players, allowing them to move from the tutorial mode to duels "with less hesitation.”
Players can now choose from two game formats: the standard format which features cards from Base Set 2 and all upcoming series; and the second format which is open and applies to all the cards released prior and in the Heart of Nightmares expansion.
Solo campaigns have been extended to a total of 30 missions and puzzles have been enacted in order to "zero an enemy’s health in only one turn." There's also a new ranking and matchmaking system with classes which will replace the current ELO system, eliminating inconsistencies which plagued it past.
The game economy has also been reviewed and new series will be more accessible and purchasable with gold earned in-game a few weeks after launch. All menus have been redesigned and new visual effects have been added to the battleground.
