Sega heads up an alliance of Japanese mobile developers - report
Sega is at the forefront of an initiative to forge a cross-promotional network of 15 Japanese smartphone developers. Reports suggest that Capcom and Taito are also involved.
The idea is to create a larger community of players that can be moved between the group's respective games. The Japanese developers will be able to avoid the revenue share imposed by the leading mobile gaming platforms GREE and DeNA - they take a cut of revenue on top of what is taken by Apple and Google.
Between them the 15 companies involved have a user-base of over 20 million. Reports suggest that they'll be aiming to double that number by encouraging other companies to sign up.
