FFXIV to start billing on January 6, discounted pricing until V2.00

Square Enix has announced it'll start billing players of Final Fantasy XIV from January 6.

The MMO has been in what ia really an extended F2P period since the well-documented disastrous launch of the game, which even seen Square boss Yoichi Wada say the FF brand was "greatly damaged" following XIV's release last September.

Main pricepoints for subs will be ¥980 for 30 days of play and ¥2,640 for 90 days. However, prices will be discounted from ¥980 to ¥680 and ¥2,640 to ¥1,740 until V2.00, which will overhaul the game, releases next year.

Today's announcement applies only for the PC version. The PS3 version doesn't launch until late 2012 with a closed beta.

Thanks, Andriasang.
