PopCap: Working on EA properties "would really make sense"

PopCap and EA sitting in a tree, working on each others' IPs.

"I think there are certain aspects of [EA's] products that would really make sense in that way; things like mini games or pieces of games, or maybe small features that sit on top of some of the core games," PopCap's director of online business Bart Barden said during GDC Europe, as reported by Develop.

"I do see a lot of synergies for, probably, cross promotion. I think it's about getting the PopCap people excited about EA's social games and visa versa. There's probably the biggest bang for the buck there, at least in the near term."

Even though Barden was also adamant that "everything will improve with EA," he's hardly his new master's lapdog. For now, PopCap's upcoming release slate is all-PopCap all the time, with a "pretty robust" selection of social games leading the charge.

So then, no Pegglefield 3 announcement just yet. Thinking about it, though, giant silver balls crushing their way through a fully destructible wartorn cityscape? Maybe... maybe this is what we really wanted all along.
