Make Something Unreal darlings sign commercial UE3 deal
Swedish developer Coffee Stain, known for taking home a number of prizes in Epic and Intel's Make Something Unreal competition, has scored a long term licensing deal for the Unreal Engine.
Coffee Stain Unreal Tournament 3, Sanctum, garnered enough positive attention that the team were motivated to adopt Epic's Unreal development Kit and develop it into a stand-alone game.
The developer has since struck a multi-project deal with Epic for a full commercial Unreal Engine 3 license.
"We are so pleased to see Coffee Stain Studios turn their game development dreams into a business," said Epic boss Mark Rein of the deal.
The hybrid first person action and turret defence blend that is Sanctum will go into beta via Steam today, and releases in full on April 15. Check out the latest trailer below.
Coffee Stain's first commercial project was the Atari-published iPhone app, I love Strawberries.
