Microsoft feels there's "too many people with too much invested to let Apple win" in mobile

Microsoft Games Studios' Kieron Connell has said Microsoft is "very serious" when it comes to Windows Phone 7, because there's "too much invested" in mobile to let Apple dominate the market.

Speaking during a question and answer session during the Evolve In London Conference yesterday, Connell said MS is very serious about protecting "its part of the business".

"I think there are too many people with too much money invested to let Apple win in terms of flooding the entire market," said Connell. "You'd better believe Microsoft is very serious about Windows Phone 7, and protecting their part of the business. It's going to be an interesting time - that's for sure."

Earlier in conference, Ngmoco's Neil Young mentioned Apple was dominant in the west, where as in the east it was Android phones. However, some of Europe was still up for grabs despite Android having "lots of momentum right" but an "inferior publishing model."

Windows Phone 7 launched in Europe on October 21 with the US getting it on November 8. It is expected to launch in Asia next year.
