67,000 shuttles whacked in EVE's Jita

According to this Massively report, 67,000 shuttles were wiped off the face of EVE Online's Jita trade hub yesterday, and no one's got a blind idea why.

If you haven't played EVE, rest assured that 67,000 ships is a stupid amount. In fact, if we're being honest, it sounds as though some wires may have been crossed somewhere down the line. Are there ever even 67,000 shuttles in Jita?

Jita's a major trading centre in the space-based MMO, and a notorious source of lag in the entire game.
