$1 million up for grabs in SMITE World Championship
The SMITE World Championship is offering a whopping stack of cash to victorious participants.
SMITE is only the fourth game ever to front a prize pool of over $1 million, according to esportsearnings.com.
The pool has been partially crowdfunded by in-game purchases, with over $400,000 indirectly contributed by players over the last seven weeks. The promotion will run for another 14 weeks, so expect to see the SMITE prize pool grow ever larger ahead of the World Championship, which will be held in Atlanta January 9 through 11.
You can find more information on regional feeder events and the Championship, and buy tickets to the finals, on a newly-launched website.
SMITE is currently available on PC and coming to Xbox One soon. It boasts over 5 million players, making it one of the top three MOBAs, according to developer Hi-Rez Studios.
