Halo: Reach confirmed for September 14 release, beta played by 2.7 million

The AP's reporting that Bungie's confirmed release dates for the western and Japanese versions of Halo: Reach, adding that 2.7 million people played game's beta, which has now ended.

Reach will release on September 14 in the west and September 15 in Japan.

Players collectively logged more than 16 million hours and more than 1.1 billion virtual kills during the 18-day beta, said the firm.

Bungie had already said that it saw more people log onto the Reach beta in one day than it did in the entire Halo 3 beta.

The developer extended the test for a day.

The September 14 date was rumoured back in March.
