Im not sure about the games. Some of them look amazing, but I haven't seen anything new, gameplay wise.
Anyway...

I am at a 9 for the system. I will be buying it in the near future if Second Son is announced for Release then I will get on day one. Just have to save up for it before hand. I am sold on this system. It will be a hard sale for MS to persuade me especially with all the leaked info and it demonstrating they are more focused on media hub then a game system.
10 for me and that's mainly because of the games. I can understand your negative but I don't think gameplay is going to have a drastic change until virtual reality becomes mainstream

And very less vita, although psyched for vita remote play.
And no price cut. Sucks but is probably the correct decision. Price cut along with some killer games is the need of the hour. Vita japanese cut is good as it is bundled with an awesome 2 month lineup.
Not a day one for me (since prices are around double here), but definitely THE next-gen system for me.
I am afraid about pricing though. Being the most powerful next-gen system has some serious downsides too.
Hopefully a 400$ basic and 500$ premium along with a 100-200$ sub based model would do wonders to sales.

Its a new console rarely are there any ground breaking games on release that usually happens on the second year of the system being out.
Now that I think about it that media molecule demo was the most innovative thing I've seen since little big planet.

HR:7 (+2 post-E3?) Looks very promising. Nothing I *need* to play yet, so not a day one purchase for me (tho I never buy day one anyhow). I expect it will have loads of great games by the time I do get one, so I look forward to being wowed (& wooed?) by what they drop over the next few years.

In all seriousness im pretty pissed at how the controller is the basically the same with some plastic black thing in the middle, i personally find the controller really uncomfortable and the lack of new IPs was pretty shit

I'm about an 8.
Sony appeared to show they've learned a lot from last time. The clear focus was on games and making that quicker, easier and better. What I'm worried about is more the ability to deliver now.
Edit: Also liked the idea that they lead out with New IP and included stuff that's clearly experimental like the MM sculpture thing. I like that they support this sort of thing so strongly that it gets included in presentations like this.
Hype level 6, but it all depends on how the pad *feels*.

Good architecture, good specs, reasonable controller upgrade, nice OS enhancements.

Mehzone gets even more CoD-like, Yawnfamous sequel and some other non-innovative, higher poly-count current-gen game types.
I want to see new game types, better AI and physics, and good uses of that controller.... Not shiney shooters and racers.
Overall... I'm about a 9. But, my hype isn't towards the "OMG ITS THE BEST THING SINCE SLICE BREAD I WANNA WORSHIP IT!" But, towards having my attention. I have invested a healthy amount of my gaming career this gen into SONY so hearing everything I have done thus far can and will migrate over is a huge plus. Also, seeing the increased social being more then just talking to someone via game that's huge.
Remote desktop ps4 gaming? I'm going to highjack the shit outta some of my friends games. Even in concept all of it seems like the logical step for gaming. Now, we just have to wait til E3 drops to see if it is all real. The Vita has proven to be everything they said in the beginning outside of the huge remote play games on ps3. But, that kinda made since seeing how 90% of the games that were releasing in the 2 years of Vita's life were either being completed or already done.
So, seeing the Vita having functionality from the jump via Gaikai and Remote play is truly awesome. It'll probably take them 6mnths-1year to get it out properly but I'm a very patient man so that's fine.
Overall Sony has my attention. MS it's your move
I'm well hyped about the hardware and really excited to hold the DS4 in my hands, but the whole package at this moment? 5 at best.

TBH Giga I was a bit surprised Sony were making this announcement when the 3 has been just getting in to it,s stride.
Now that it,s come I have to say I am impressed.
Not because the games that were shown were really that big of a leap and I would have thought the 3 would have been maybe capable of running some of them anyway.
What has impressed me is Sonys turn around this gen and how they are now setting the standard for the next one.
MS started off so well with the 360 and kept it going for a long time but little by little they just seemed to let it drop gradually and steadily.
There first party titles just kept getting less and less whilst Sony were doing the opposite and yet we kept hearing about the attach rate been so much better on the 360.
I know it is early days yet and I am no expert and indeed have been accused more than once on this site of been a MS fanboy.
I always denied it and still stand over most of my comments from back then but you have to admire what Sony have been doing this gen regardless.
You see it doesnt really matter how well you start a race or indeed how well you are doing midway through the race what really only matters is how you finish the race as that is what people remember.
I unsubscribed from live 18 montha ago and joined plus and have never looked back.
I still play games on the 360 but seem to spend much much more time on the PS3 these days.
I never would have thought it would be like that 2 years ago.

I await in anticaption for the MS reveal but they seem to have let a lot slip away from them in the last 18 months that they may need to get back to the drawing board on this one as just saying the live aspect is way superior is not good enough any more.
I said many times that Sony had let the ball slip with the 3 but they stuck with it and it now appears to be bearing fruit for them.
I would like if there was some sort of bc with ps3 games as the crossover period will be the toughest part imo as the 3 has lots of good games still coming out.

Loved almost everything I saw about the console. :)
Basically taking alot of idea's that are around and refining them with what looks to be a great power upgrade (obvs not against PC).
Still wish the console had an actual screen on the pad but overall it was great.
Blown away with the 8gb DDR5 RAM announcement, that pushed it over the top for me, not quite sure about the Graphics Card or CPU, but the memory alone was what devs have been complaining about most this gen, so the huge boost should really help open world games.
It was exactly what they needed to show, it really did feel like a Next gen console with all the trimmings.
Games; Not so much for me, don't really care for Infamous and Killzone but obviously E3 should show Uncharted and maybe more new IP's.
The Capcom game looked perfect for me, Dragons Dogma / Witcher / Dark Souls, although that will prob be multiplatform.
So far, it looks like a repeat of this gen for me:

PS4 & Wii U as exclusive only consoles.
If MS drop the ball in a big way (reported specs seem a bit shit compared), then i'll prob shift over to PS4 for my main but I guess we'll have to wait for E3 to check that out! :)
Also, biggest for me: second hand games and doesn't have to be always connected to the internet.
If MS drop the ball on this one they can go suck the choad. Don't mind paying for PSN so thats not an issue.

To cut to the chase I am hovering around a 6/10.
I really liked the remote play. I would love to use that feature. But ofc that means I need to spend extra on a Vita. If the Ps4 launches for 450usd(my guess) and a Vita plus memcard run me 350usd(that is conservitive), then I have to spend 800usd to use that feature. Yikes.
I am not and never have been a huge fan of the long line of Sony exclusives(I know blasphemy right?). I just don't enjoy them. Most of them aren't aimed at my demographic anyways. I also don't enjoy the Halos, Gears, Fables anymore either. It is a bitch to get older.
I am VERY interested in Gaikai.
I am also very interested in Indie game development. I like smaller off the beaten path and not AAA games. While I don't enjoy Gow, I loved Fat Princess for example. So what type of indie support they can drumb up is going to be huge. But there has been little to mention of that yet. All about big box games and I don't enjoy those like I once did.
They mentioned Free2Play briefly. I want to know more about that.
I like the new controler design, I hope it feels comfortable(this is a big deal for me).
The last thing I wanted out of a next gen consoles was same games, more shinies. I think that is going to be the way it goes. Prolly for both MS and Sony. One of the reasons I enjoy the WiiU so much is the gamepad enhances the games. I don't define games by graphics alone. I want a second screen for maps, inventory, spying on the player next to me, stats, extra cams, touch functions etc. Can the new PS4 controler deliver that? We don't know yet.
So in my mind I still have more questions then answers.

I believe consoles like PS4 and xbox whatever it will be called, have had their day. Once the internet speed improves, things like cloud gaming/on-live will ultimately be the way forward and no one will ever need a piece of hardware under their TV collecting dust ever again, it just won't be necessary. I also had a to laugh at the fact Sony have elected to use AMD components for the CPU/GPU, which automatically means it'll be crushed by many gaming PCs even before its launch.
Cloud gaming will ultimately be able to offer the consumer immediate access to software and hardware the moment is becomes available.
PS4 is ultimately probably a better product than the Xbox offering, if only because everyone hates being stuck under the MS monopoly, but I think the game will alter inside the next few years. Ultimately, whether the console is a success or failure, will entirely depend on game developer support and what kind of titles they can bring to the party. I'm surprised Bungie are jumping on the Sony wagon, that must be a serious kick in the nuts of the next Xbox.
I'm not a console gamer any more but in terms of hype, I'd say a solid 7.
Well I'll be starting a uni with electronic engineering so ill have my work cut out for me. I will NOT be buying any new generation consoles... as much as I'd like to.
