Icebound needs help.
I'm bringing this to your attention because we've been so bogged down with generic fantasy that I feel that any sane person would be aching for something that approaches the genre in a different way. This does. It's the ice age of one such world, which is unique in and of itself but there's so much more to it than even just that.
From the outset, it deals with transhumanism in a fantasy world to cope with ever growing threats, such as their inability to cope with the growing cold. It's as intriguing a setting as fantasy could wish for.
And it's presented in a novel way, too. Quite literally -- it's a visual novel. But it's more akin to the Disgaea visual novel, if you've ever played that. To wit, it's not at all about romance, it's more about the story and the choices you make, rather than focusing the game around combat. If you're looking for a visual novel to try to see if you enjoy gaming in that format, this wouldn't be a bad one to start off with.
I look at this and I see something I've wanted for some time -- simply, a fantasy world that doesn't conform to the circlejerk of medieval Western nonsense that we're all too familiar with.
If you're looking for something different, I urge you to check it out.
It's got three days left. So I'm doing my best to get the word out. It really does need the help of anyone who's ever wanted to see more interesting fantasy worlds in gaming. This is a chance to actually speak with our wallets and to say that we're interested in more than just the generic stuff. So it's up to you.
