The Witcher animated film will follow Vesemir, Geralt's mentor

Netflix has revealed an early synopsis for the story of the upcoming The Witcher animated film.

Officially announced last week, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is an upcoming animated film produced by Netflix. Today, the streaming service shared a glimpse of the story.

Vesemir, Geralt's Witcher mentor, is the star of this story, which will seemingly take place in his youth.

"Long before mentoring Geralt, Vesemir begins his own journey as a Witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise," the the synopsis reads.

Lauren S. Hissrich and Beau DeMayo, the duo behind the live action Witcher series, are developing the film. The Legend of Korra's Studio Mir will animate. Outside of today's story reveal, we know virtually nothing about Nightmare of the Wolf.

A big question, for instance, is who Netflix has cast to play Vesemir. Fans have been asking for Mark Hamill to play Vesemir, and the actor has expressed casual interest.

Vesemir does not feature in the first season of the live action series, so there's a chance whoever actor they pick for the animated feature could end up reprising their role in future seasons.

The Witcher Netflix show has already been deemed a success, and the company wasted no time renewing it for a second season.

Thanks, @Nibellion.
