Arktika.1, an Oculus Rift VR game from the developers of Metro 2033 and Last Light, is out now
Arktika.1 is a new horror shooter from 4A, the developers of the Metro series.
4A are delving into VR for the first time with this game, which again returns to Russia in the future (although this time only as far forward as 2021 - looks like the next few years are going to be rough).
The launch trailer, below, shows the game's first-person gun combat and scares as monsters burst through walls, attack en masse, and generally cause mischief.
And how about that bloody clown? You've got a lot to answer for, Stephen King.
According to the Oculus Blog, the weapons in the game will all be modular, meaning that you can switch parts between them and modify them until they fit the specifications you want them to. Enemies will be able to flank you and directly attack cover, making this one of the more advanced VR FPS experiences we've seen.
The game will use a teleportation system of movement, which is pretty common in VR (it tends to reduce motion sickness). The system is detailed in the video below.
Arktika.1 is an Oculus exclusive, so it's unlikely to pop up on other VR devices. If you'd like to give it a shot, it's out now.
