Star Wars: Battlefront 2 leaked trailer shows seconds of gameplay and maybe a not-so-dead Emperor Palpatine

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 may be bringing back Emperor Palpatine in a sweet red cape.

Some footage of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has popped up online showing what looks like a behind-the-scenes, or making-of-style video about the game.

The footage was captured off-screen, as you can see, and seems like it escaped some sort of closed event. This could be part of what EA will be showing at E3 next month, since publishers often release multiple trailers for the same game.

The video, via the Star Wars Leaks sub-Reddit, has a couple of seconds worth of gameplay from the upcoming sequel. The map and ability cards system look to have been given a UI redesign, but it's hard to make out the rest. The shadowy figure with a red cape seen in the reveal trailer also shows up.

It's not very clear, but he looks like an older version of Emperor Palatine, which wouldn't make sense given the timeline of the game. That said, he could be a clone, a different person, or perhaps the scene takes place before the destruction of the second Death Star. These new spider drones can be seen electrocuting a man, too.

The official gameplay reveal will be part of EA's Play presentation at E3.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is out November 17 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
