New Dragon Age game in development, Sunless Sea creator is involved
BioWare is working on the next Dragon Age game, and there's at least one guest writer who will be contributing to its story.
There's a new Dragon Age game in development at BioWare. Alexis Kennedy, co-creator of indie game Sunless Sea, left the studio he co-founded last year to work as a freelance writer. Since then, he's contributed to a number of games, but the big news is that he'll be lending his talents to the next Dragon Age game.
Kennedy, who's based in the UK, is actually working with the Canadian studio remotely, he revealed in an interview with Eurogamer. The writer has a very unique position, in that he's the only one working remotely with BioWare, and definitely the only guest writer.
Though Kennedy couldn't reveal too much about what he's working on, he did say it'll be "segregated" from other parts of the game.
"What I can say is I have been given considerable autonomy to work on a storyline bit of lore which is well-segregated from other parts of the game. It's nothing that grandiose, but it is distinct. It’s a bit of lore which has not been addressed much to date in Dragon Age," he said.
It's still hard to quantify Kennedy's contribution to the game, seeing as it's yet to be announced. From reading the interview, though, it sounds like his stories will be fleshing out part of the game's lore that BioWare previously did not explore.
Dragon Age: Inquisition, the third game in the series, came out back in 2014.
