A cryptic Facebook post may hint at a Far Cry 3 remaster or spin-off
This Facebook post made by Ubisoft France may not confirm a new Far Cry 3 related project, but it sure feels like it's setting up for an announcement.
Update: Ubisoft has told Game Informer that this was simply a 'throwback post', and that it wasn't meant as a tease. Hmmm.
Original post follows below.
The post includes the above image, along with the phrase "Une île que l'on n'a jamais vraiment quittée." This translates roughly to "An island that has never really left".
This could, of course, simply be a reference to people still holding Far Cry 3 in high regard. But it's just cryptic enough to set off some alarms, especially since the accompanying artwork has, it seems, never been used in any of the game's major marketing efforts.
This could be nothing. Or it could mean that Far Cry 3 is getting a PS4/Xbox One remaster. It could mean that we're getting a sequel to Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, or a new spin-off tale. Back in 2014, Ubisoft senior communications manager Gary Steinman talked about how Ubisoft once had plans for a direct sequel, although that lasted all of four days. That idea could, one supposes, have been resurrected. The post could even be hinting at a Switch release.
Hopefully, if something is happening, we'll know more soon.
