Overwatch hero Orisa joins the roster next week
The latest behind-the-scenes Overwatch video goes more in-depth with the newest hero, Orisa.
Blizzard has announced the date that the newest Overwatch hero, Orisa, goes live. She'll be ready to roll next week on Tuesday according to the official Twitter account.
In a behind-the-scenes look at the hero, the team talks more about her inspiration from a gameplay perspective, and her aesthetic design.
"We talked a lot about introducing another, what we like to call, anchor tank," says game director Jeff Kaplan.
"We see a gothic Zarya, adds to it Bastion's cannon, there was just a combination of cobbled-together parts, but it was instantly fun. And that's how we knew we were on to a good hero."
Orisa's description on the Overwatch site describes her as a tank, and central anchor of her team, with a protective barrier for defence.
She has long range attacks, can bolster her own defenses, can slow enemies with graviton charges, and she can deploy a Supercharger to boost multiple team mates' damage output.
"I think she's a core character to the Overwatch lineup in terms of gameplay mechanics and functionality," Kaplan continues. "She's going to serve a really unique roll in Overwatch."
Orisa joins the Overwatch roster on March 21.
