Yep, Resident Evil 7 is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, just like we predicted
Resident Evil 7 is a Play Anywhere title. Who's delusional now?
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be a Play Anywhere title, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has confirmed.
The Play Anywhere scheme means users who purchase a game on Xbox One given a free copy of it on the Windows 10 Store, and vice versa. All first-party Microsoft games released on both platforms will be Play Anywhere titles moving forward, but Resident Evil 7 is the first triple-A, third-party game to get onboard the scheme.
Adding to our habitual smugness, we called this back when it was first revealed that Resident Evil 7 has cross-save on PC and Xbox One.
This may not affect pre-orders much, since we're getting this news fairly late in proceedings; Resident Evil 7 releases next week for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
PS4 fans may be a little bummed that they don't get cross-buy or cross-save, but they also had exclusive access to the demo chapter for months before anyone else, and can take advantage of Resident Evil 7's VR mode. Fair's fair, and Sony doesn't own a PC gaming platform.
