Ark: Survival Evolved mod switches dinos for pokémon, creator gets DMCA notice
Ark: Survival evolved is all kinds of dino themed-fun. So imagine how much more fun it’d be with pokémon.
Ark: Survival Evolved is all about surviving on a dinosaur riddled island. There’s resource management, crafting, and when you become powerful enough, you can get your own dino mounts. It’s pretty fun.
One modder in particular decided to ramp up the whimsy levels with a pokémon mod, allowing you to hunt, battle, and ride the beasts, and doing away with the survival element altogether.
The mod was created by Mystic Academy and you can find all the details you need in the Steam Workshop.
But things aren’t going so smoothly, as the mod has been hit with a DMCA notice. And despte the fact that Mystic Academy used pokémon models “imported from their respective games,” it didn't come from Nintendo.
According to PC Gamer the DMCA notice seems to have been submitted by a different modder - or someone in their community - who is working on an Ark pokémon mod of their own.
One of the discussions alludes to this, stating that Mystic Academy “ripped off” an already existing mod called ArkMon.
We’ll have to see how this unfolds, but for now, if you want to give Pokémon Evolved a whirl, you’d better download the mod sharpish just in case it's no longer available going forward.
