If you follow the modding scene around Just Cause 3, you may remember how the game was supposed to get a multiplayer mod from the same group responsible for the popular Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod.

You'll also remember that because the mod creator got a job at developer Avalanche, the mod was cancelled. There's nothing new on that front. However, what is new is that a new team has assumed the mantle.

The team is called Nanos (via Gamespot), and their first release of a multiplayer mod is out today in beta. In a message on the mod's forums, the team said that the plan is to release the stable 1.0 version in January or February next year.

The beta release will include the necessary server files that allow anyone to host their servers, or create new game modes.

As you can see, the reveal trailer promises the type of carnage you'd expect, with races and shootouts that feature many players.
