Codenamed Santa Cruz, the updated headset was announced during the Oculus Connect event yesterday.

According to Mark Zuckerberg, the headset will fall in the middle of the current tethered system, and easy-to-use options with better mobility such as Samsung Gear VR (thanks, PC Gamer).

Zuckerberg didn't say when Oculus expects the wireless model to be released, but the company did provide a video on the prototype, albeit a very short one.

It was also announced yesterday Oculus Rift now has lower minimum specs, along with three new titles.

One is from Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light developer 4A Games called Arktika.1, set in Russia in the aftermath of the apocalypse; Lone Echo from Ready At Dawn; and Robo Recall from Epic based on the Bullet train demo.

All three titles will require Oculus Touch motion controllers in order to play, which will set you back a whopping $200.
