One Pokemon-related item sold every 12 seconds on eBay since Pokemon Go's release
Pokemon merchandise and other random paraphernalia have seen a big surge in sales on eBay since Pokemon Go's release.
Pokemon Go's success continues to affect the world around us, even if not all of it translates into money going back to Niantic and the Pokemon Company.
Earlier this week, eBay revealed a couple of interesting stats about the biggest franchises by number of buyers on the site. Though most of the report concerns movie franchises, there's an interesting bit of insight into the effect Pokemon Go has had on Pokemon-related item sales.
On July 18, Pokemon Go was the number 1 trending item on all of eBay, thanks to over 444,000 views of Pokemon merchandise. The Nintendo Pokemon Go Plus bracelet in particular was very hot.
At the time of writing, Pokemon Go remains in the lead, with a decent increase in views and clicks. Not only that, but since the app's release, a Pokemon-related item has sold every 12 seconds around the world.
This translates to a 57 percent increase from its average selling rate. The list of Pokemon items is big, and includes t-shirts, caps, and others.
