The new expansion has been detailed on Harmonix's blog.

The description offered of the expansion is quite vague: "With Rock Band Rivals, the Rock Band team has been flexing their creative muscles to produce something truly unique. For the launch of the expansion, we’re going to be bringing you brand new features that have never been seen in Rock Band before."

"These are really big, new modes to the game, and players of all difficulties and play styles will be able to enjoy what we’re cooking up for you. We can’t wait to share more about Rock Band Rivals in the near future."

The expansion pack will cost $29.99.

Harmonix also unveiled the new Fender Jaguar Guitar Controller, as seen in the video above. The controller will fold down for easier storage, higher sensitivity to tilting for easier overdrive activation, and an auto-calibration light sensor. A charging dock is also in the works.

In March, Harmonix formed a new publishing agreement with PDP to continue producing Rock Band peripherals. In April, a Fig campaign to fund a PC version of Rock Band 4 failed.

Rock Band 4 is currently available on PS4 and Xbox One.
