Miitomo has over 10M users, Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem titles headed to mobile
Nintendo has announced during today's financial report that Miitomo, the company's first mobile app, has been very popular. The social network-style app was released for smartphones and tablets and already has over 10 million unique users.
More apps that leverage existing Nintendo IPs are in development, Nintendo said, in line with what the company announced last year.
Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem are the next two franchises that will see mobile apps, both due for release this fall.
The Animal Crossing app will be "connected with the world of Animal Crossing" found on other Nintendo platforms. As for Fire Emblem, the company said the app will offer a more "accessible" experience, compared to the one found in 3DS games.
Nintendo confirmed that both of these will offer more than Miitomo, in terms of game features, and will be tied to Nintendo's dedicated games business.
More details to be revealed closer to launch.
This follows Nintendo's news from earlier that the NX will be released in March 2017, but won't actually be shown at E3.
