Glove Controller applications filed by Sony for use with PlayStation VR
Patents filed by Sony for a glove controller which works with virtual reality headsets has been dug up by NeoGAF user Rösti.
Looking over the patent diagrams, it shows various flex and touch sensors which would allow the glove to transmit various actions through the headset and onto the screen.
Diagrams showing sign language, the user holding objects, and one notes how it's configured to receive haptic feedback data.
A cuff is also shown attached to the glove which could be the sensor which provides said haptic feedback. You can look over all the schematics and diagrams posted on NeoGAF to get a better idea.
You can also read the entire patent applications through the United States Patent and Trademark Office website. It's quite a long read.
It's worth reminding everyone that patents are filed with the USPTO all the time and nothing ever comes of it. However, it's also worth noting that Sony is hosting an invitation-only PlayStation VR event at GDC next month, so you never know.
The event is expected to last four hours and there will be hands-on demos with PS VR titles.
Thanks, Ars Technica.
