Microsoft will host a gaming-focused global media showcase in San Francisco on February 25.

According to NeoWin, attendees will be able to "hear from Head of Xbox Phil Spencer and get hands-on with the best games and platform experiences launching this spring on Xbox and Windows 10".

This talk of the spring line-up makes me hopeful we might see some new game announces or updates as well, but history does not favour this prediction.

I wouldn't expect too much on the PC front, either; Microsoft has made several bold declarations that it's poised to deliver an amazing new future for gaming on Windows, and then it just does something like announcing Gears of War Ultimate for PC before clamming shut again.

We're likely to hear more about the future of the Xbox One, as the console's OS gets even cosier with Windows 10. You can probably divine something of the company's planned direction by perusing the first 2016 Xbox One preview update.
