Is Destiny's first event for 2016 called The Dawning? Seems likely
Bungie said back in December to expect more event-focused content for Destiny in 2016. Well, it's 2016 and it appears the next event is just over the horizon.
In the recent email Bungie sent out regarding free Emblem, Motes and Coins being handed out to Destiny players between January 7-10, the developer mentioned something about "Days of the Dawning".
Recently, the Destiny database was updated with a few items which look like letters and notes per a forum post. These are referred to as "The Dawning".
Bungie said the first event of 2016 will be similar in size to that of the Festival of the Lost, and the second event will be "the biggest yet."

Admittedly it's all speculation right now, but hopefully Bungie will shed more light on things with the January 21 update.
