Fallout 4 mod improves frame rate by sacrificing textures

This mod can boost your frame rate, but it comes with a cost.

A new mod for Fallout 4 will improve the frame rate of the game - by replacing hi-res textures with lower quality textures.

It's a compromise, but it should please those who find the game struggling on PC during busy situations.

"Vanilla textures are HUGE 2048x2048 (2k) ground textures and 1024x1024 plant textures and so on (for example) most people cannot handle this," says the mod author.

"Therefore what I have done and am doing is trying to fix that problem and retain the vanilla art style as best I can, while reducing the texture size, and using proper compression on textures that shouldn't be in dxt5 format for the actual graphical return you get."

You can get the fix over on Nexus Mods.
