Will PS4 ever be backward compatible with PS3 games? "No," says Yoshida
Sony has reiterated it has no intention of bringing backward compatibility to PlayStation 4.
Head of PlayStation Europe, Jim Ryan, said as much back in June, as did Sony Worldwide boss Shuhei Yoshida.
The earliest PS3 model was backward compatible with PS2, but wasn't "greatly used," according to Sony.
"PS3 is such a unique architecture, and some games made use of SPUs very well," Yoshida said at the time. "It's going to be super challenging to do so. I never say never, but we have no plans."
At Paris Games Week, Yoshida once again said Sony didn't have plans to include backward compatibility, by stating "no" when asked.
So, there we have it then.
