Have a look at some DOOM Closed Alpha multiplayer gameplay

The first DOOM Closed Alpha begins tomorrow, October 23, and Bethesda has released a trailer giving you an idea of what you'll be playing.

Participants will play 6v6 Team Deathmatch on the Heatwave map and will be using a limited arsenal of six weapons and two pieces of equipment. A pre-set loadout can be used or players can choose a customized loadout on the industrial-themed map.

Bethesda said there will be several “game changers” appearing in the area, so watch out for the following:

  • The Demon Rune, which can turn the tide of a battle by transforming a player into a bad-ass Revenant fully loaded with dual rocket launchers and a jetpack.
  • The Gauss Cannon, a high-powered weapon that can destroy a foe in a single blast.
  • Power-ups like Quad Damage and Invisibility – you can guess what each of these does.

The items have limitations, for expample: the Revenant has a timer and the opponent who kills the demon can steal the Rune. The Gauss Cannon has a limited amount of ammo and Power-up capabilities will only last for a limited amount of time.

Those participating should know the closed Alpha will be testing the back-end functionality and while feedback on the gameplay will be monitored, id Software will be "assessing how real people connect to servers and the systems."

This will allow the development team to note how the back-end infrastructure holds up.

A beta is still planned for 2016, and those who pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order will need to register their code here if they haven't already. This will guarantee their spot in the beta, and as Bethesda stated before, doing so also adds the possibility of an invitation to one of the closed Alpha tests.

This is just the first DOOM closed Alpha and it kicks off Friday, October 23 at 12:01 ET and runs through Sunday, October 25 at 11:59 ET.
