Which games will you never delete from your PS4 hard drive?

Ahh, the pain of deleting games from your hard-drive. When your storage is close to bursting, which games get the axe and why?

silent_hills_p_t

There seems something definite about deleting games from your hard drive. Sure, you can re-download them and re-install them but realistically, will you? There's a reason why you sacked a particular game off, and once it's gone it usually a full-stop on your relationship. Never go back.

If you bought an early PS4 it came with 500GB of storage. That seemed like quite a lot a few years ago, but it's already being replaced with 1TB hard drives officially. You can buy an install your own 2TB hard drive of course, but I'm too cheap and lazy. Besides, money I spend on a hard drive is money I'm not spending on a game. And don't even talk to me about cloud storage.

So when I get a new disc or the opportunity to download and install a new game to my PS4, I have to do this digital juggling act. Screens and video footage get deleted first, then it's on to the difficult decision of which game gets chopped in order to replace the new one.

Here, then, are the games living on my hard drive and the ones that got kicked for a prettier model. And some of my big deletion regrets.

I'd love to hear what games you keep, delete and why in the comments section below.

These games aren't going anywhere

playstationgc_until_dawn

Until Dawn
From out of nowhere this is one of my favourite games of the year. I'm in the process of revisiting some chapters and playing out different outcomes, and I honestly intend to sit down and watch the extras. It's the most recently installed, but it's going to stick around for some time.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
I will finish The Witcher 3 at some point this year. I've come so far, to delete it would admit defeat.

Dishonored: Definitive Edition
I loved this on last-gen so have gone for the new-gen version. I haven't started it yet but I'm very much looking forward to returning to murder in Dunwall.

GTA 5
I'll never delete GTA 5 from my hard drive. Grove St 4 Life.

rocket_league_1

Rocket League
Another new one that should stick around for a while. It's a saturday morning game for me and the kids.

Destiny
We don't write about Destiny much on VG247 and you might not know we all play it quite a lot. I'm downloading the 2.0 update as a type this and I'm pumped.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes
Installed since day one and pretty much played every other weekend. I play this with my children, the children play it themselves, we're still unlocking characters. It never gets old.

Outlast
My favourite horror game of this generation. I've still not completed the Whistleblower DLC but it's on my list. This isn't going anywhere soon.

The games on death row

dark_souls_2_scholar_of_the_first_sin (6)

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin
There comes a time when you have to admit a game isn't for you. This is the second time I've started Dark Souls 2 and although I enjoy it at the time, I'm never compelled to return. This is earmarked for deletion.

FIFA 15
I don't do football but my son is mad for it. He's already planning his FIFA 16 teams after watching Spencer FC on a daily basis, so this will get the boot as soon as the new version is out.

Lego Jurassic World
I thought we'd enjoy this more than we did. It'll get deleted and replaced with Lego Dimensions, I suspect.

The Order: 1886
I've only just installed this purely for work reasons. As soon as I'm finished with it, it's getting nuked.

battlefield_hardline_robbery_fr_mask

Battlefield Hardline
I always intended to return to the multiplayer but never did. It won't be around for much longer, I'm sure.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
I know this will get deleted when Black Ops 3 comes around. But for now, digital Kevin Spacey is still pacing around my hard drive ranting at anyone who'll listen.

Far Cry 4
I was so pumped for Far Cry 4 and I enjoyed the first 10 hours or so. Then I just… stopped. Once the Christmas games hit, this will get booted off my PS4.

Terminated games

counterspy_2

Counter Spy
This was cool! A cute little side-on spy shooter thing. But it had to go when something bigger came along.

Contrast
I enjoyed this around the launch of the PS4 when there was sod all else to play. But it was never a keeper.

Dead Nation: Apocalypse
I played this out of curiosity for about 30 minutes but it's a totaly average top-down shooter.

Daylight
Downloaded, never played, deleted.

Everybody's Gone To The Rapture
Good intentions got this downloaded but then I read Brenna's feature and realised good intentions aren't always fun experiences.

dmc_definitve_edition

DmC: Definitive Edition
Another one downloaded and never played. I never played Enslaved or Heavenly Sword either, come to think of it. I'm part of the problem.

Don't Starve
Don't Starve is a great little game but those roguelike survival games aren't for me. I just get frustrated. Ain't no shame in admitting it.

Ether One
I liked the look of the logo on my screen but I can't tell you what this is without looking it up. Sorry.

Fez
Everyone tells me Fez is a classic and I've poked around it for a few hours but it was never a keeper.

the_crew

The Crew
Bit of a stinker, eh?

OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood
Deleted but only because I've got it on Vita instead and it's better suited to a handheld. A great skating game.

PixelJunk Shooter
Gah, the controls on this got my back up instantly. Delete.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition
I got this because I really liked True Crime: Streets of LA back in the day. But then I never got around to playing it so it got the chop for something else.

Trials Fusion
How could Trials Fusion be so bad compared to the previous two games? Charmless, aesthetically ugly and superfluous. Trials Fusion made me really mad.

Regrets, I've had a few…

dying_light

Dying Light
I didn't like this when it first came out and now I see thousands of people playing and loving it and I realise I've missed out because I was too impatient.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes
So my children rang me up when I was away with work and said "Dad, we can't install Lego Jurassic World, there's no space on the PS4" and I was like, "delete something else, it'll be fine." They deleted Ground Zeroes. I have put them up for adoption.

Helldivers
Downloaded and deleted for some reason I don't remember and then I read all the praise and was like "dayum".

lords_of_the_fallen

Lords of the Fallen
I know this is average at best but I really fought against deleting this Dark Souls rip-off. Considering Dark Souls doesn't do much for me, I'm not even sure why.

Unfinished Swan
Argh, I wanted to play this on PS3 and didn't get around to it so got the PS4 version and didn't get around to that either.

P.T.
Don't talk to me about this. A moment of weakness that will haunt me forever.
