Destiny's Sony timed-exclusives will be "completely refreshed" before fall launch on Xbox

When Destiny's The Taken King launches this fall, the original exclusive strikes for PlayStation platforms will be made available on Xbox; however, Bungie said console users on all four systems can expect the content to be completely refreshed.

Speaking with Eurogamer, creative director Luke Smith said both PlayStation and Xbox users will have the option of trying out either the newer, tougher versions of the content or the original version.

Smith said providing the option allows Xbox players to come up with strategies before taking on the tougher versions. It will also allow veterans to the content on PlayStation to devise newer strategies.

"So [Xbox players] can play last year's model and, as a community, Destiny fans can play through the new versions together and figure them out," he said.

"We want you to experience The Undying Mind completely as it was with the Vex, and also in a Taken-ified version. We wanted to make it feel like more than last year's model."

The year-long PlayStation-exclusive content contained strikes The Dust Palace and The Undying Mind along with the Exotic weapons Hawkmoon and The Fourth Horsemen. It also included PVP maps Exodus Blue and The Timekeeper.

Once The Taken King arrives in September, the aforementioned content will be made available for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One players; however, another round of PS3 and PS4 exclusive content will be released.

As with the previous content, it will remain a Sony-exclusive for an entire year and contains new, complete armor sets, a co-op Strike called The Echo Chamber a competitive multiplayer map titled Sector 618 and an Exotic weapon.

The PS exclusive items and the new expansion were announced during Sony’s E3 2015 press conference.
