Kotaku's E3 interview with Halo 5: Guardians creative director Tim Longo and Josh Holmes, 343 Industries’ head of internal development, has revealed that players are in for an emotional rollercoaster to rival Halo: Reach. Even the developers aren't immune to the tale's intensity, as Holmes confesses: "There’s a part in the game where I have teared up".

“We have a lot of surprises in the campaign when it comes to that side of things and we’ve tried hard to instill those kind of emotions,” added Longo. "That’s exactly what we want — it helps to make the game memorable."

Halo 5: Guardians is out October 27 on Xbox One.
