The Witcher 3 players have logged a staggering number of hours
The Witcher 3 appears to have sucked more time out of the past month than 30 days could possibly have held.
The Witcher 3 has a special relationship with digital distributor GOG.com, because both GOG and developer The Witcher CD Projekt Red are owned by publisher CD Projekt.
As such, GOG made special mention of The Witcher in a recent update on the health of its new gaming client, GOG Galaxy.
Apparently, some 700,000 PC players - about 17% of the total Witcher 3 player base - have logged 1,770 years worth of play time with the RPG so far.
Conservatively extrapolating from that, it's very probable that across all platforms players have logged something in excess off 9,730 years of play time. Nine millennia of Geralt's adventures.
Bear in mind that's based on an estimated 4 million players worldwide - and since that figure applies only to The Witcher 3's first two weeks on sale, the real figure is probably a lot higher than that.
Although it's a rough calculation, it's probably the best we're going to get as telemetry relies on opting in to online connectivity, which we can't reasonably expect all non-GOG Galaxy PC and console players to do.
