Gameplay footage of cancelled Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun emerges
A video has leaked online showing over 30 minutes of footage from the cancelled sequel to Soul Reaver, Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun.
Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun was in development at Climax with some involvement from Crystal Dynamics, according to a NeoGAF report.
User Mama Robotnik on the forum posted this video, which shows early parts of the game ranging from story cut-scenes and the new protagonist, to a lots of gameplay. The combat features a ghost-like companion, and a Batman-esque combat not unlike those found in Shadow of Mordor.
According to the insider, publisher Square Enix cancelled it in 2012 after having been in development for three year. It was even considered as a potential PS4 launch title at one point. Low sales potential was the reason for the cancellation.
The uploader has not allowed video embedding so you can instead watch it on YouTube.
The game itself popped up back in 2013 as a result of a leak by the same NeoGAF member and was believed to have a multiplayer portion that has formed some of the basis of Nosgoth.
Plenty of more details can be found on NeoGAF, including input from someone who had worked on the game at some point.
