EA Q3: Battlefield 5 still on for holiday 2016, PGA Tour 15 spring release confirmed
EA announced its financial results for its Q3 fiscal year 2015 quarter, ended December 31, 2014, noting total net revenue $1.13 billion in total net revenue compared to $808 million year-over-year.
For the nine months ending December 31, total net revenue came in at $3.3 billion. Net revenues were up 39% and net income came in at $142 million compared to a $308 million net loss year-over-year.
CEO Andrew Wilson reiterated during a call to investors this evening the next Battlefield game wouldn't be released until until Holiday 2016.
Wilson also said to expect the next PGA Tour game to release before the end of June 2015. The golf game was announced in June 2014 for a spring 2015 release.
Need for Speed will go "back into the rotation" next fiscal year, as well as the Star Wars Battlefront game. The FPS is set for holiday 2015, and the first look at the game will be coming in spring as more information and assets on the next Star wars film is released.
Digital revenue was up 34% year-over-year to $693 million with EA Sports Ultimate Team up by 82% year-over-year. A large chuck of the firm's digital revenue came from Battlefield Premium, and the firm noted the popularity of EA Access, which is exclusive to Xbox One, had 41 million gameplay sessions launched in The Vault during the quarter.
In the press release, the company noted the infographic it posted earlier this afternoon, which provided engagement numbers for some its more popular titles.
For instance: players logged 113 million single-player hours in Dragon Age: Inquisition and over 3.3 billion goals were made in FIFA 15.
DAI was also touted as the most successful launch from BioWare to date. The firm noted the install base for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One helped tremendously.
During Q3, EA reported $427 million from Xbox One and PS4 titles, $306 million from PS3 and XBox 360 titles, and PC and Browser netted the firm $218 million.
SimCity BuildIt, the free Android iOS title which launched in December, has been downloaded 22 million times in more than 100 countries and users have accumulated over 1.2 billion gameplay sessions.
Monthly active users for EA’s mobile titles averaged more than 160 million for the quarter.
Madden NFL Mobile and FIFA 15 Ultimate Team together averaged 45% more monthly active players through Q3 compared to the previous quarter.
