Steam Machines not dead but "front and centre" at GDC, says Valve
Steam Machines have sort of fallen off the radar, but Valve has promised to give plenty of attention to the living room PC movement at GDC in March.
The Steam Machine concept is "pretty much dead", according to one PC manufacturer, who pointed out the living room PCs have existed and continue to exist even as Valve Time seems to have struck the developer's the complicated system of PC certification.
GameInformer asked Valve whether it's true that Steam Machines are "dead", and a representative provided a staunch no in reply.
"We're planning a very large presence at GDC with Steam Machines being front and centre," the company said.
So there you have it. I don't know how much of what Valve shows will be useful for consumers, though; GDC is a trade event, and Valve has said that it is fronting an increased presence to compensate for the lack of a Steam Developer Days event this year.
GDC runs March 2 though 6 in San Francisco. We're expecting to see the final Steam Controller there, too.
