Far Cry 4 PC patch lands tomorrow, PS3 fix requires reinstallation
A fix for black screen issues on PC will be released from tomorrow for Far Cry 4, Ubisoft has announced. Unfortunately, for PlayStation 3 owners who purchased the digital version and are experiencing corrupted files, the news isn't as good.
The PC issues stem from external USB devices, according to the latest update from Ubisoft. The temporary fix is to disable USB devices and "certain drivers."
"We realize this is in no way ideal," reads the update. "For that reason, this Friday, November 21, we'll be releasing Patch 1.4.0 for PC that should remedy the problem and allow PC players to enjoy the game as normal."
Additional fixes will be included, but the main culprit, the black screen issue, "has been tackled." The patch notes will be available tomorrow.
PlayStation 3 owners who have reported instances of the “delete FC3 game data issue” error can now download a new version of the game.
Unfortunately, this means the original download will need to be deleted completely. Once this has been done, players are being asked to go back to the PS Store and "re-download the correct version of the game."
A walkthrough on how to delete the game thoroughly is posted through here.
The new Far Cry 4 file is 9.4GB, and Ubisoft stressed in the post that players using disc-based versions should not be affected, and that future downloads should also "not be affected by this issue."
Far Cry 4 released earlier this week on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
