Watch Sonic Boom E3 2014 gameplay here

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is one of two action-adventure games published in the works at SEGA, and five minutes if direct-feed footage has been posted for Rise of the Lyric.

The second game in the works, Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, will be released on 3DS while the Rise of the Lyric is a Wii U title and part of SEGA's existing deal with Nintendo.

Both are part of a sub-universe for the Sonic franchise which will span games, a TV show and a line of toys. The games will serve as a prequel to the computer-animated TV series that will air on Cartoon Network in 52 11-minute slots.

The Wii U game is in production at Big Red Button Entertainment, with the 3DS version being handled by Sanzaru Games, which worked on the Sly Cooper HD Collection for Sony. Both studios are based in California.

The Sonic Boom titles are not slated for Japan as Sonic Team will continue working on its own titles.

The game is due out for Wii U alongside a 3DS version this November.
