Hyrule Warriors playable demo coming to E3 with more character announcements
Temco Koei plans on bringing a playable demo of Hyrule Warriors to E3 this year alongside a new gameplay trailer.
Speaking with Famitsu and translated by Siliconera, general producer Hisashi Koinuma and producer Yosuke Hayashi said they hope fans "will get a better idea of what we’re trying to do," as well as reveal other playable characters.
Elsewhere in the interview, the duo discussed weapons and boss fights.
With weapon selection, characters can switch out their weapons and thus providing them with a new fighting style. Weapon enhancement and character growth systems have also been implemented.
Like previous The Legend of Zelda games, players will find weapons and other items in treasure chests, and better yet, the treasure chest opening animation from the games will be shown when a playable character opens one.
“This is actually a very valuable scene [in The Legend of Zelda]. And this also applies to Hyrule Warriors,” said Aonuma.
When it comes to boss fights, Hyrule Warriors takes a page out of the Warriors series. Hisashi said there wasn't any way the team would be able to emulate the high-quality boss fights from the Zelda series. Therefore, players will a large number of smaller enemies to help charge their special attack meters before confronting a boss.
There will also be items in boss stages where players can find strategically placed items to help out in battle.
Hyrile Warriors is a Wii U exclusive and releases in Japan on August 14. A western release date hasn’t been announced, but hopefully we'll hear more at E3 214 next month.
