GRID: Autosport's PC free texture pack DLC is 5GB, was initially 30GB
GRID: Autosport developer Codemasters is releasing a texture pack on Steam when the racer launches on June 27. It was 30GB initially, but has since been whittled down to 5GB.
The numbers were confirmed in this PCGamesN interview with Codemasters senior producer Richard Kettlewell and GRID: Autosport producer Clive Moody.
The pair explained that GRID: Autosport's full install is 11GB, and with the texture pack applied it weighs in at 16GB.
Kettlewell told the site, “Everything's just a bit bigger and higher res detail on PC. Better shadows, higher res car reflections – that's something else we've put a lot of work into on Autosport, getting the car paint effect to look as authentic as we possibly can.”
Moody added, “We're locked to 30FPS on console, we're clear on PC. 60FPS is really nice, it gives you a great experience. And, it can be played on a three displays. It has full peripheral support – wheels, controllers...”.
During the site's interview, it was added that the game was also running at 4K in the next room.
On the differences between console and PC versions, Kettlewell concluded, “The thing about being PC-lead is that in the past we'd think 'Oh we can't do that on console' so we wouldn't do it. Whereas now the reaction now is 'Oh we can't do it on console but let's do it on PC.'"
GRID: Autosport hits PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on June 27. Stay tuned for our interview next week.
