Minecraft Xbox 360 and PS3 worlds will transfer to Xbox One and PS4

It's been confirmed on all sides that Minecraft game saves on Xbox 360 and PS3 will transfer to the upcoming Xbox One and PS4 editions, if you choose to upgrade. Sony users may also be able to transfer to their PS Vita.

The news was first confirmed for Sony platforms via Mojang's Owen Hill, in a blog post of the EU PlayStation blog.

"The plan is to enable users to transfer from PS3 to PS4," he explains. "We're still working out how it'll work with the Vita version."

Xbox main man Phil Spencer has since responded to the news by confirming that worlds from the Xbox 360 edition of the game will be transferable to the Xbox One edition. He tweeted: "After months of teaming up with Mojang, we can confirm that Minecraft X360 Edition will save transfer to Xbox One Edition... more news soon!"

That more news may well be cross-buy details, as Mojang is yet to announce whether there will be deals or discounts for those who already own a version of the game.

Thanks, Eurogamer.
